If you've had an account with us for a long while and used Login with Google in the past, you may run across a situation where you receive an "unverified developer" warning when using the Google login option. This may occur both on the Zenva Academy website and on our mobile Zenva app.
This message is an error, as we are a verified developer with Google.
The article below contains information on why this error message is being displayed, along with how to fix the error.
Why you are seeing this message
As per our Privacy Policy, the only information that we collect when you choose to use an applicable social login is your account ID, name, email address, and avatar. The permissions that we are authorized for are the ones listed below. You can read about them here.
However, the off-the-shelf Login with Google solution that we were using as part of our original backend also requested access to your contact list by default. This was always clearly displayed on the Google app authorization screen.
Your contact list is information that our service does not - nor has ever - accessed. As such, we decided to modify the code of our original Login with Google solution to remove that permission request.
Since older accounts that used Login with Google gave us access to their contacts list, and we never submitted a verification request for "contact list access" to Google, those users will most likely be seeing an "unverified developer" warning.
The solution
You can resolve this issue by revoking access to our app in your Google account and using the Google login option on either our website or mobile app to re-authorize the login with the correct permissions. To do so, simply follow the steps below.
1) Go to your permission settings in your Google account and remove access to the Zenva Academy app:
2) Go to either the Zenva Academy website or our mobile app, log in with Google, and re-authorize the access when prompted.
